A chance for a global breakthrough at one of the world’s biggest startup events

The Slovenian startup ecosystem is opening up to new global opportunities. The Slovenian public agency SPIRIT Slovenia has launched a public call for applications for eight startups and scale-ups to form the official Slovenian delegation to Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon this November – one of the world’s largest and most influential startup and technology events.

Web Summit: the gateway to a world of global investors and partners

Each year, the Web Summit brings together more than 70,000 attendees from over 160 countries, including the world’s largest investment funds, technology corporations, international media, regulators and startups from every continent. For startups, attending Web Summit means direct access to global investment, partnerships, mentors and media visibility.

This year, Slovenia will for the first time be present at the event with its own national stand as an official partner of the event, which will give the participating companies a high visibility and the opportunity to present themselves effectively to an international audience.

What do companies get from being part of a delegation?

Selected companies will receive comprehensive support:

  • Organised group appearance at Web Summit 2025: each company will be provided with a professionally equipped exhibition space in the Slovenian Startup Island zone.
  • Mentoring preparation before the event: SPIRIT Slovenia will organise a preparation programme for selected companies with top mentors, including preparing pitch presentations, improving investment performances, networking tactics and training in business communication in an international environment.
  • Access to the global startup ecosystem: one-to-one meetings with investors, companies, partners and mentors from around the world.
  • Networking with other Slovenian participants: the delegation will also include high-level government representatives and representatives of supporting institutions, which further reinforces the importance of the national presence.

Who can apply?

The open call is open to startups and scale-ups from Slovenia that have their own software solution or associated hardware, are not older than 6 years, are not part of a larger corporate group, have a functioning website, are not yet independently registered at Web Summit 2025 and are willing to actively participate in the mentoring programme. The full list of eligibility requirements is detailed in the open call on the SPIRIT Slovenia website.

Why is this an opportunity not to be missed?

This is the first such national participation in the Web Summit by a specially organised Slovenian delegation. It provides both professional preparation and maximum visibility on the global stage. At a time when many Slovenian companies are intensively looking for routes to international investments and markets, participation in a national delegation can be an important stepping stone.

Deadline for applications

The call is open for applications until 15 July 2025. All information and the application form are available on the SPIRIT Slovenia website.
