€2 million in incentives for micro-enterprises in the timber sector

The Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SEF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport has published the call for proposals P4LM 2025 – Incentives for Micro Enterprises in the Wood Processing Industry 25-26. The aim of the call is to stimulate the competitiveness and sustainable growth of the smallest enterprises in the wood processing industry. Micro-enterprises can obtain grants of between EUR 15 000 and EUR 70 000, with the SPS co-financing up to 60 % of eligible costs for investments in tangible and intangible assets.

The total amount of funding available is €2 million, with the SPS estimating that between 30 and 40 quality projects could be supported. The call is aimed at promoting the technological modernisation of wood processing processes, digitisation and the introduction of sustainable and circular solutions, with the aim of achieving a development breakthrough for micro-enterprises and their transition to a low-carbon economy.

Key information about the call

  • Beneficiaries: micro-enterprises (1-10 employees) whose main activity is registered within:
    • Division C, Section 16 ( manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials); or
    • Section C, Division 31 (manufacture of furniture).
  • Eligible costs:
    • the purchase of new equipment, tools and machinery for the technological process of wood processing;
    • purchase of software;
    • the cost of transport, installation and commissioning of the equipment.
  • Co-financing rate: up to 60 % of eligible costs, the remainder to be provided by the company itself.

The call will run over two years – 2025 and 2026. Companies receiving funding in 2025 must complete their projects by 1 December 2025 at the latest, while companies receiving funding in 2026 have a deadline of 15 October 2026 to complete their projects.

Each company can apply only once in the 2025-2025 period and will only receive funding in one of the two years.

Important: Projects relating to the energy use of wood (e.g. pellets, wood chips) or involving energy investments (such as solar power plants, boilers, etc.) are not eligible for the call for proposals.

Applicants submit their application via the Fund’s ePortal, where the process is easy and fully digitised. The deadline for applications is 27 August 2025 at 14.00.
