More than 970 million euros in development incentives for the economy, tourism, and sport in 2026

In 2026, the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, together with implementing institutions and the SID Bank, will offer the economy, tourism, and sports sectors more than 970 million euros in European and national funding for co-financing projects and operations. This further builds upon the support provided to the economy in previous years.

Minister Matjaž Han stated: “Global conditions have been changing at an increasingly rapid pace recently. The geopolitical situation is extremely unstable, climate change is becoming obvious, and the social situation is increasingly tense. At the Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport, we cannot directly regulate the broader business environment in which our companies operate, but we can help companies to operate as successfully as possible within this environment. The Ministry has traditionally supported the development of entrepreneurship, and is placing ever greater emphasis on research and development, innovation, and new products and processes. With this, we want to prepare our economy for the challenges of the future. At the same time, we are strengthening our traditional industries, such as tourism, forestry, and crafts. For a healthy and vital society, we also do not forget about investments in sports.”

With an extensive package of 55 measures, the Ministry will offer effective support to companies and entrepreneurs, research institutions, and sports organizations. As many as 43 measures will be in the form of grants totaling 307.2 million euros, the largest portion of funds, amounting to 574.8 million euros, will be offered through ten measures in the form of repayable funds (loans, guarantees), and two measures will be designed as a combination of repayable and non-repayable funds totaling 88 million euros.

In addition to the Ministry and SID Bank, incentives will be offered through public tenders by the Slovene Enterprise Fund (SPS), the SPIRIT Slovenia public agency, the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), and the Slovenian Regional Development Fund (SRRS).

We will support the following areas:

  • entrepreneurship – 656 million euros,
  • research and development – 167.8 million euros,
  • sport – 46.8 million euros,
  • wood – 33.7 million euros,
  • tourism – 25.1 million euros,
  • economic restructuring of coal regions – 14.4 million euros,
  • internationalization – 10.3 million euros,
  • decarbonization of the economy – 10 million euros,
  • social entrepreneurship – 5 million euros,
  • craftsmanship – 0.95 million euros.

In addition to financial incentives, we also offer free services to the economy at the national and local levels. Consulting, mentoring, and information are provided through support environments. We also offer companies networking opportunities and competence strengthening. For these purposes, the ministry has allocated more than 16 million euros in 2026.

Companies, research institutions, and consortia can also obtain additional funds from central European programs. Some of these European opportunities are also included in the prepared overview of development incentives for 2026, which we at the ministry prepared with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness and innovation of the Slovenian economy. In the Development Incentives Plan, you can find detailed information about planned incentives, their expected publication dates for 2026, and contact details for further questions.
