{"id":6165,"date":"2026-08-05T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/een.si\/public-consultation-on-the-possible-extension-of-the-application-of-the-steel-regulation-to-additional-steel-products\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T08:00:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T06:00:11","slug":"public-consultation-on-the-possible-extension-of-the-application-of-the-steel-regulation-to-additional-steel-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/een.si\/en\/public-consultation-on-the-possible-extension-of-the-application-of-the-steel-regulation-to-additional-steel-products\/","title":{"rendered":"Public consultation on the possible extension of the application of the Steel Regulation to additional steel products"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"6165\" class=\"elementor elementor-6165 elementor-6148\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-30d5b8e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"30d5b8e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0ef41b5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0ef41b5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><div class=\"intro\">The European Commission has launched a public consultation to gather views on a possible extension of the list of steel products subject to tariff rate quotas to imports of steel products under the new EU Steel Regulation.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"content-blocks elements\"><div id=\"e431888\" class=\"typo content-element__content content-module block\"><div class=\"adapt\"><div class=\"inner rte\"><p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/policy.trade.ec.europa.eu\/news\/eu-steel-regulation-commission-launches-targeted-consultation-first-product-scope-review-2026-07-30_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public consultation on the extension of the EU Steel Regulation<\/a> covers the following product groups:<\/p><ul><li>tubes and hollow sections of cast iron (Combined Nomenclature No. 7303 00 10, 7303 00 90),<\/li><li>non-alloy and other alloy wire (Combined Nomenclature headings 7229 20 00, 7229 90 20, 7229 90 50 and 7229 90 90),<\/li><li>stainless steel wire (Combined Nomenclature Nos 7223 00 11, 7223 00 19, 7223 00 91 and 7223 00 99),<\/li><li>non-alloy and other alloy forged bars and profiles (Combined Nomenclature heading 7214 10 00, 7228 10 50, 7228 40 10, 7228 40 90).<\/li><\/ul><p>It invites manufacturers and users of those products, traders, importers, industry associations and other interested stakeholders to participate.<\/p><p><b>The consultation runs until 28 September 2026. <\/b><\/p><p>Upon completion, the European Commission will review the comments received and assess by 31 December 2026 whether the list of steel products should be extended. <\/p><h2><b>Background<\/b><\/h2><p><a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/PDF\/?uri=OJ:L_202601384&#038;qid=1782820812771\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>The Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council addressing the negative trade effects of global overcapacity on the Union steel market<\/b> was<\/a> adopted in response to global overcapacity in the steel industry and replaced the previous EU safeguard measures on imports of certain steel products.
