\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European Commission has published its <strong>Digital Decade 2025 Status Report<\/strong>, which assesses the <strong>EU&#8217;s progress in<\/strong> <strong>four target areas for the EU&#8217;s digital transformation<\/strong> by 2023: <strong>digital infrastructure<\/strong>, <strong>digitalisation of business<\/strong>, <strong>digital skills and<\/strong> <strong>digitisation of public services<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report shows that while some progress has been made, <strong>the deployment of connectivity infrastructure<\/strong> such as fibre networks and standalone 5G networks remains <strong>slow<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More and more companies are adopting artificial intelligence<\/strong>, cloud computing and big data, but this <strong>process needs to be accelerated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>While nearly half of Europeans<\/strong><strong>(55.6%<\/strong>) have a <strong>basic level of digital skills<\/strong>, the <strong>availability of ICT professionals with advanced skills<\/strong> <strong>remains low<\/strong> and the <strong>gender gap<\/strong> is <strong>wide<\/strong>, hampering progress in key sectors such as cyber security and artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, the EU has made <strong>steady<\/strong> progress in <strong>digitising key public services<\/strong>, but <strong>a significant share of government digital infrastructure<\/strong> still <strong>relies on service providers outside the EU<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a
